Alex Swire
Director
Alex Swire has over 40 years’ practical experience in business, starting at the very beginning on the factory floor of a family fashion belt business. Between the age of 17 and 20, due to his father’s illness, and while at Monash University studying for an Economics Accounting Degree, he rejuvenated the family business.

This has taught valuable lessons about doing what is necessary, and when it is required. After 5 years, due to further deterioration of his father’s health, and with the business at the point of financial collapse, he took over the running of the business. Over the next 10 years the business grew from annual sales of $165,000 to over $5,000,000, and sustained this for over a decade.

The early 1990’s began with “the recession we had to have” (P.Keating – Australian Government Treasurer) and marked the beginning of the end for manufacturers in the clothing and accessory industry. First large retailers became direct importers from Asia, and later as the internet opened the avenue for small retailers, making the local producers redundant.

Mid 2000’s, Alex left the accessory business looking for another career. It took 24 months to realize his passion was to reconnect with the qualification he already had, being economics accounting. He was never interested in Tax Returns, and the concept of a CPA was not appealing. Working in an accounting office was not of any interest, even with an offer of a partnership.

Alex’s passion has always been to help people, empower them in the area of their business finances, put quality systems in place, understand why people do the things they do and see them succeed. He felt it is important to understand how clients see their business and have insight into the clients handling of finance. BKFP is the vehicle to provide this service.

With over 10 years’ experience in Bookkeeping, Mentoring and Rescue Work, BKFP has been providing advice to a diverse range of clients including many that that been saved from bankruptcy, and prosecution by the authorities.
